Xbox X and PS4 Pro Vs. 4K Gaming Desktops

What do you do when you want a powerful 4K gaming machine but cannot stomach the roughly two thousand dollar price tag? Recently, both the Xbox X($500) and the PS4 Pro ($400) have been marketed as 4K home consoles with much lower price tags than a 4K gaming desktop. The question, however, is, “do they deliver a true 4K gaming experience at that price tag?” Well, neither of them could hold a candle to a $2000 gaming desktop, but…

Some of my favorite computer/tech sites.

Instead of writing a blog post, I thought I would list some of my favorite computer/tech sites with a brief description of each one.

CNET.com

CNET is a great site that has been around and relevant since 1994, and their content is now better than ever. CNET is a great source for product reviews, news, articles, blogs, podcasts, and tech videos.

Engadget.com

Are you ready for the next Windows 10 Update?

Since its release on June 1, 2014, we have seen a great deal of changes to Windows 10. The largest of these was the Anniversary Update in August, 2016, which made changes to the Start menu, taskbar, the Edge browser, introduced Windows Ink, Xbox Play Anywhere, and numerous other features. 1. Install an antivirus. A great antivirus, Windows Defender, is included in Windows versions 8 through 10. Manually run a full scan of the system to get a good, clean baseline established. After this, ensure your antivirus is monitoring all files in real time.
  2. Consider having an anti-spyware program to accompany your antivirus. We have had success with Malwarebytes.
  3. Avoid clicking on banner ads that look questionable. If you don’t click on something or open it voluntarily, it is…

Our Favorite Google App & Extensions

Google Chrome is much more than just a browser, and that is how it became the web’s favorite. In fact, it was perhaps the first cloud-integrated web browser. That is, everything you do inside Google Chrome is automatically synced across all your computers and devices.

There are literally hundreds of thousands of Google Chrome extensions that can make this “super browser” even more powerful. There is likely an extension to make Chrome work the way you want. For instance, I often end up…

Your Amazon Prime membership has another often underused perk: free, unlimited photo storage.

The picture shows the Amazon Drive cloud—a warehouse full of servers.

We see a lot of data loss here at Tech Authority, so we are always big advocates of prevention and backups. Almost two years ago, Amazon unveiled Prime Photos, which lets you automatically back up all your photos to Amazon Drive. Backing up your photos through Amazon is an often overlooked solution that could save your pictures–and you a lot of stress—in the event of a crashed computer or…
